Air Force Academy

Joshua and I went away over night for our anniversary. We both wanted to go back to the Air Force Academy. The last time that we went was with a family from church and we wanted to see more of the Academy. We looked around the visitor center (you should go by there if you are ever in Colorado Springs), it was really cool. Then we walked over to the chapel (about 1/3 mile walk). They had an awards ceremony going on there. It was really cool to see. They had a military marching band and they had all the cadets stand in formation. They even had a special guest, John Glen. We did not get to see him in person though. About half way through, we had to leave because I was getting hungry. We were going to walk back though because they were going to land a plane there in the grass. Joshua wanted to see that. We ended up taking too long and we missed it. There was not too much more to see, so we left to go driving around Colorado Springs.

The Air Force Academy

On Saturday we went with a family, The Tossells, from our church to go see the Air Force Academy. The husband worked there and it was great to see all of it from someone who knows about it. We did not get to see all of it because it is such a big campus. The views are beautiful as you drive in and it would be very easy to get lost if you don't know what you are doing. We went to go see the chapel. It was very beautiful in there. They have many different places of worship. We got to see a Jewish Temple and they had many things on display. There was even tile on the floor brought in from Jerusalem. It was beautiful out when we went. The weather had warmed up and the sun was just about to set. We went went to see the office where he worked. It was very interesting. On the way back to where we parked, Paul had fun looking at the airplanes on display there. He loves to point to the airplanes. He got the same kind of love his father has for airplanes. It was also interesting to see all the cadets running and walking around outside. After we got to our cars, we decided to go out to eat. We had alot of fun and a great time of fellowship. It was a great experience. I hope we can go there again to see what else is there. You really can't see it and enjoy it in a day.

The Frymire Family

Here is a picture of the Frymire Family (including Daniel). It was good to see them again. We enjoyed seeing them here in Colorado. They are very proud of their son even though they miss him very much.

We went out to eat with Margot and Jason (he is the one who is training us) and then we all went for a walk at the Garden of the gods. It was a beautiful time to walk. You can see all the stars.

The Boys

This weekend was Parent Appreciation Weekend at the Air Force Academy. At church today we had alot of families and their sons come to our church. Some were dressed in their uniforms and some were in regular everyday clothes. It was very neat to see some of the guys that are attending there. Here are some pictures of the boys wearing the hats that the guys wear with their uniforms. I thought that they looked so cute wearing them.

God Bless Our Troops

We have some close friends of the family, The Frymires, whose son is in the Air Force Academy here in Colorado Springs. The family is coming up to visit their son, Daniel, at the Academy. The Academy is having a parent's appreciation week. We are looking forward to spending some time with them as they are going to be staying with us as we stay at our friends house. I hope that you would keep this family and others around the world who are or have someone fighting for our country in prayer. God bless America. Here is a picture of Daniel Frymire.
